How X stores video quality
When a video is uploaded, X saves several copies of it: usually 1080p (Full HD), 720p (HD), 360p and a tiny 270p version for slow connections. The app picks one automatically based on your connection, which is why videos often look blurry on X.
Download X lists every copy X has for the post, with its resolution and bitrate, and always puts the best one first. If a video tops out at 720p, it was uploaded that way — no downloader can add detail that X never received.

Why is there no 1080p option for some videos?
X only keeps the resolutions it received. If a video was uploaded in 720p or recorded on an older phone, 720p is the best copy that exists.
Can I download Twitter videos in 4K?
Only when X stores a 4K copy, which is rare. When it exists, it appears at the top of the table with a 4K badge.
Is the HD download the original quality?
Yes. We save the exact file X serves, without re-encoding or compression, so the HD download matches what X plays in full screen.
Why does a video look blurry on X but sharp after downloading?
The X app lowers the quality to load faster on mobile data. The downloaded HD file is the full-resolution version.
